Arkansas Goose Season 2026-27: Specks, Snows, Canadas
Arkansas runs three goose seasons on two different calendars, and two of them open before duck season does. Here are the 2026-27 dates, the bag limits, and the nine days at the end of October when a specklebelly is the only thing you can legally shoot.

Canada Goose
September 1 to October 15, 2026, then November 21-29, December 10-23, and December 26, 2026 to January 31, 2027
Five a day and fifteen in possession in the early season. Two a day and six in possession once the later segments open.
The September opener is six weeks of goose hunting before anything else in the state is legal, and the bag is more than double what it drops to later. Resident birds, hunted on fields and ponds rather than flooded timber.

Two a day, six in possession.
That first block is the one worth circling. Specks open October 31 and run nine days, and duck season does not open until November 21. For those nine days a speck is the bird you can legally shoot in Arkansas when the ducks are still closed.
Snow, Blue and Ross's Goose
October 31 to November 8, 2026, then November 21-29, December 10-23, and December 26, 2026 to January 31, 2027
Twenty a day, and no possession limit at all.
Same calendar as the specks. The bag is the tell: light geese are overabundant enough that the state stops counting what you can keep.
Light Goose Conservation Order
February 1-5, 2027, then February 8 to April 25, 2027

Not a season in the ordinary sense. It is a population-control order that opens after regular waterfowl closes and runs most of the way to May, which is why spring snow goose hunting in Arkansas looks nothing like the fall.

The nine days most people miss
October 31 through November 8. Specks and light geese are open. Ducks are not, and will not be until November 21.
It is the quietest good hunting in the Arkansas calendar. The timber crowd has not arrived because there is nothing for them to shoot yet, the fields are freshly cut, and the first specks down the flyway are landing on ground that has not been hunted since January. A two-bird limit sounds thin until you have watched a flock of specklebellies commit to a spread with nobody else in the county working them.
Canada goose is open in that window too, but it has been open since September 1 and the birds have had two months to learn what a decoy looks like.
Why the snow goose limit is twenty
Twenty a day, no possession limit, and then a Conservation Order that runs from February into late April. That is not a state being generous.
Light goose numbers grew past what their Arctic breeding grounds can carry, and the birds strip the tundra they nest on. The federal framework responded by removing the ceiling on what a hunter may take and adding a spring order outside the normal season structure. So the rules you hunt snows under are a population-management tool rather than a harvest allocation, and they look strange next to a two-bird speck limit for exactly that reason.

Canada goose in September and early October, and specks and light geese from October 31 to November 8, are goose-only windows with no open duck season behind them.
